Memorial Day Weekend

Daddy was away last weekend, so Mommy and I went down to MD to visit with the Leeds side of the family. My Great Aunt Jeri was there too...it was great to finally meet her! We had a good time and enjoyed the beautiful weather. There was a cookout on Sunday with fun games to watch, and everyone (except me) had yummy snowballs! We even went to yard sales on Saturday. There was so much activity going on...it wore me out!

Here I am with Mommy at Grandmom and Granddad's house:

And here's a picture of me hanging out...

...and one of me eating in my booster seat.

I wish Daddy could have been there with us...I missed him so much. I was so happy to see him on Wednesday morning.

I've been having fun this week playing with my new toys that Grandmom got me at a yard sale...thank you so much, Grandmom! Aunt Jeri bought me a ball too that I love to watch Daddy kick (we have that on video too...). Here I am with the ball:

Don't Tell Me I'm Developmentally Behind...

Yesterday I had my 9-month doctor appointment. My doctor said that everything was good except that I was a little behind developmentally because I wasn't sitting up by myself yet. I couldn't believe it...ME, BEHIND?! I decided that today I would try to work on it...too bad my appt. wasn't today...I sat up by myself with no problem...Mommy didn't even help me! Mommy put me on my belly, and I rolled up onto my bottom! So, Dr. G, there you go, I can do it...I just had to try once!

Mommy got these pictures. She was so happy when she saw me sitting up. I was happy too, and I was very proud of myself. (Some of the pictures are blurry, but Mommy still likes them...)

And, by the way, I'm still small...I weigh only 15 pounds, 7.8 ounces at 9 months! Looks like I'll be sitting backwards in my carseat for a long time!

Hanging Out in My Highchair

Mommy got these pictures of me today when I was sitting in my highchair. I love to be comfy, which means resting my foot on the tray! Mommy doesn't understand how I can be comfortable doing that...she kept trying to put my foot under the tray...and I kept pulling it back out! Mommy says it's hard to feed me when my foot is in the way, but I keep telling her that I won't get it in the way of the spoon. Although, I can't say that I won't try to put my foot in my mouth at some point! (Mommy doesn't like that either...I get food on my socks!)

It's been fun trying new foods and being able to pick them up myself. Mommy gave me pieces of banana today to eat with my fingers. I love bananas with cereal, but plain bananas are yucky! Mommy said that the banana wasn't very ripe, so it wasn't as sweet as my other bananas. She said she will give me more banana in a couple of days...I hope it tastes good then!

Lunchtime Update:

So, lunch went a little better...Mommy gave me peas to eat, and they were good! I had fun picking them up and eating them...well, eating some of them...Mommy found about 3/4 of them in my lap! But she was still happy because she knows I'm still learning... :)

I'll Be Crawling Soon!

Daddy and Mommy have been watching me get up onto my hands and knees over the past couple of weeks. They get really happy when I do it and tell me to move forward...but I just keep going backwards! I want to move forward, but I can't! Daddy says if I move forward I'll be able to CRAWL...and that means I can get around fast and get to all of my toys that are across the room! Daddy and Mommy also put my toys just out of my reach so I have to crawl to get them. But I can't get my knees to move...I just fall back down and give up most of the time...I guess I just need to be more persistent!

Mommy got this picture today when I was trying to crawl:

Rolling in My Crib

This week I figured out how to look over the railings of my crib...if I roll to my belly, I can peek over the side. Now I can see Mommy when she comes in to get me in the morning. Today I smiled at her as she walked in the room.

I used to just lay on my back in my crib and scoot around that way...Mommy would find me at the other end of the crib most of the time in the morning. But now that I've been rolling over to my stomach, I can see so much more...

I wonder if I could grab the railings and pull myself up...then I could really see a lot...I'll have to try it, but I think I'll wait a little bit before I do that. I've heard from friends that when you start to pull yourself up, mommies and daddies lower the matress in the crib...I wouldn't be able to see anything then! Oh well, this has been fun, and I think I'll keep doing it for a while!
